(From: https://www.reddit.com/r/Switzerland/comments/1duozp0/building_or_buying_a_house/) We are contemplating about buying or building a new home in Ticino. An option on the table would be to look for a building plot and build the house from scratch, the other would be to buy something already built or in phase of building. First question would be: do you see any great obstacles building the house from scratch instead of buy something already done here in Switzerland (law-wise or practical-wise)? Would it be a huge pain for a little gain?
The second question is about the kind of the structure: prefabricated vs traditional and brick vs wood (or in general green/bio building). I have no experience in the latter, my main doubts would be about the quality, durability in time, maintenance required and value-over-time (appreciation/depreciation) compared to the traditional old-fashioned-brick house.
Ultimately, I heard about Flock Haus (https://www.flock-haus.swiss), I cannot find a lot of info about them, anyone has any opinion? They claim to be high quality, high degree of customization, beautiful buildings and fairly low prices but seems too good to be true.
Thanks a lot
