Subletting current apartment and renting (or sub-renting) another one in the same city?

Hello,
I have a somewhat specific question. I am currently living with my girlfriend in Zürich and we are sharing a nice apartment we would like to keep. The issue is that my girlfriend will leave in September for around 5 to 6 months for studies, while I will remain in Zürich as I work here.

As we would like to keep our place once my gf returns (and I don't see myself covering the total rent even if I can, as I don't think this is financially sound), am I allowed to sublet for let's say 6 months our apartment, and I instead find a WG or smaller place for me to rent or sublet for those same 6 months?
