Can flash photography really damage cats' and dogs' eyes?
Post Body

I get blasted by several of my friends anytime I show them a picture of my pet with automatic flash on. I usually use a cheap portable camera or my Motorola phone with a shitty flash; nothing nearly as powerful as professional flash bulbs. I tell them I've googled everywhere and found not one reliable source that flash photography can cause lasting damage to any sort of eyes. My feeble counterargument is usually that it's about the same as when a cat comes out of a cellar into full sunlight, but I would really like some closure on this.
