It's been a while since we had any AMAs (Ask Me Anything posts) around these parts and we want to reinvigorate the series.
The way these work is that you can volunteer here in this post or request an AskScientist do an AMA. We will then schedule approximately one AMA per week at the convenience of the AskScientists. They will then be archived in r/AskScienceAMA for future generations.
The point here is to get a better understanding of the research and academic life of our professional scientist community members. A lot of what folks spend their days on does not receive attention in the form of questions, so this is an opportunity to dig deeper and hear from a diversity of scientists.
All the previous AMAs are archived here- http://www.reddit.com/r/AskScienceAMA
Since our community has grown tremendously since many of these were initially done, don't feel bashful requesting someone repeat an AMA or volunteering to do it again!
Thanks ya'll!
