People that are attracted to children sexually, is that just another sexuality?

Got me thinking about this. Pedophiles don't really choose to be attracted to children, just like you dont choose to like boys or girls. How is the subject viewed from a psychologist/psychiatrist standpoint? Is the fact that these people get thrown into jail okay, or should something else be done with them?
