How is the ignition point of a wildfire determined? It seems like an impossible task.

Iām reading about the Chisholm fire, which was ignited by a spark from a passing train wheel. Of course the entire area around the origin was obliterated, so how could investigators determine with any certainty that a spark from a passing train started the fire?
