Is there any evidence that dramas with a heavy emphasis on confrontation and social strife adversely affect society?
Post Body
In the UK we have something called Eastenders, it's a long-running drama set in the east end of London which has a half hour show a few times a week. It is filled with people shouting at each other, fighting, cheating, broken families and other hard hitting social issues like teen pregnancy.
Millions of people watch this show, kids grow up watching it, families sit down to watch it after dinner.
It always strikes me that I hope people don't think this is the way you are meant to treat each other. It seems like such a bad role model. And it got me thinking, is there any evidence that shows like this can have a detrimental impact on a population that watches it? Especially if someone watches it three times a week from a young age?
