how does severe neglect differ from severe abuse, in terms of how the person is traumatized?

there doesnโ€™t seem to be much talk about how CPTSD from neglect differs from that borne out of abuse. if a child endured prolonged, severe neglect and abandonment, but not abuse, how would that differ in its impact on them? how do the traumatic responses compare? both are obviously psychologically damaging, but in what ways, and might one be more insidious than the other?

Edit: Sorry, I should specify that I am referring to emotional/psychological neglect, not physical. I think physical neglect creates more obvious long term deficits in the body, that are rather apparent. I'm curious more about the sense of isolation and abandonment that psychological neglect creates.
