There's a semifamous case study I'm trying to relocate. A man, I think he was a physicist or chemist working for some famous initiative like the Manhattan Project, was referred to a therapist or psychologist for claiming to be a Flash Gordon or Captain Kirk style space hero from the future who was displaced in time and found himself in his present body. The therapist dismissed him as delusional or a charlatan, but this guy produced vast volumes of information about his future space faring life, the history, culture, and wildlife of the planets he visited, etc until the therapist became convinced that he was who he claimed. The man strung him along for a while but eventually confessed it was all make believe because he was bored and lonely, much to the embarrassment of the therapist. Does anyone know who I'm talking about?
