I like to volunteer and have direct impact and preferably local but online works too. I was a site coordinator for SMART reading and enjoyed working with kids.
I play guitar and have been for a while, I’m not really a music teacher. I can’t teach em theory and a bunch of scales and how to read sheet music but I can teach basics of guitars, notes, chords, and how to learn how to play songs.
I couldn’t tell ya what playing in the key of G means but I can shred Metallica solos all day, and play funky hardcore riffs and rock out some sabbath or random classic 70s rock.
So basically same idea as SMART I don’t want to teach kids to read I just want to teach em how to have fun reading.
Is this a thing? All I’ve seen is like paid music teaching opportunities or they are looking for like piano music teachers.
Or are there just like a bunch of 20/30 year olds just wishing someone taught em how to shred for free?
