How to make good choices for winter Mt Hood hikes?

Post Body

I am from a wintery place, but the snow on Mt Hood is a different level. I’d love to go snowshoeing or hiking on Mt Hood this winter but I’m paranoid about getting stuck. (Last winter i saw a TON of stuck cars at trailheads). I don’t ski so I’d rather avoid the super popular spots. How can I tell whereabouts to go or if the weather is safe on any given day? How can I know where it’s snowing and where it’s dry? Are certain sides of the mountain generally safer for low key hikes than others? Any tips welcome!
