Witnesses necessary for courthouse wedding?

Hey all, my partner and I recently moved up here and are planning to tie the knot this week. We've only got one friend in the area and they'll be dog sitting for us (new puppy). Would we be able to wrangle up a couple witnesses at the courthouse or should we be prepared when we go in? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!
