Hey everyone,
My dad would really like to learn to knit.
He has never knitted or done any fiber arts before and he also has Parkinson's, so his hands can be super shaky. He'd prefer some in-person lessons to get started, so I'm exploring local options for him. He's in SW but can go anywhere for the lessons. 1:1 or small groups preferred.
Once he gets going, he can continue learning on his own or join a knitting group, but he would really like some lessons to start.
He is partly wanting to learn because when his hands are engaged with something the shaking is diminished, partly for the mind/body connection, and partly for something creative/meaningful to do. =) I'm really happy he wants to do something creative, so I am trying to support this as much as I can!
Does anyone have ideas for someone who teaches lessons for total beginners with hand issues? Also open to other suggestions, like the best place for me to buy supplies for him. I myself am not a knitter despite having other creative hobbies.
Thanks in advance!
