Safe spots to get comfortable riding a bike again? Preferably near NW

I live around NW Portland and I'm considering buying an e-bike to make it a little easier for me to get around the city, but I'm a bit nervous to hop straight on the roads. I'm new to the city and I haven't been on a bike in quite a few years, so I'm wondering if y'all have any suggestions for places someone in my situation could get reacquainted with being on a bike. Whether it's a giant mostly empty parking lot, a quiet/flat neighborhood, or anything like that, I'm open to suggestions!
