Not talking about a little white lie. I mean something that could change many people's lives, most likely for the worst.
A specific example: Sam wants to marry a man named scot. Scot is known by many for cheating on his lovers and lies via omission. Sam has a sister named Sarah. Sarah has a history with scot and would like to disclose this to Sam. Scot told Sarah if she did this it would break sams heart and Sarah's boyfriends heart Steven. Sarah decides to keep this lie for the greater good and the happiness of all parties involved even if it comes at the cost of living with a terrible lie.
Is this ethical of Sarah? Is it smart? Is it right?
This example is just an example of the severity of the lie. Not big enough to kill an entire country or anything but big enough where if the truth came out many things would change.
