Given the inevitability of our death, I'm curious what philosophy says about a meaningful death. (rather than just how much the inevitability and finality has to bring to our life.)
Most people seem to end up dying... medically. It's a very solid societal norm. In a hospital bed, a heart attack, in hospice. We regard terrorism, suicide, self immolation as "crazy."
David Bowie certainly deserves an honorable mention for a meaningful death as does the millions of soldiers who have fought to push back totalitarian forces of the world as well as fire fighters.
