Iām reading Reasons and Persons and am confused about his reasoning regarding the branch-line case. How can the branch-line person on Earth dying 15 minutes after teleportation be even close to as good as ordinary survival just because there is a Replica on Mars. Even if they are 99.9% R-Related, how can one stream of consciousness die and continue in another different stream? How can the Earth replica subjectively experience death and wake up as the Mars replica? Is he implying that, in an infinite universe with 1000 exact replicas of you, if 999 of them are killed then all 999 streams wake up as the alive one?
