Advice for pursuing a philosophy PhD at a European University?
Post Body

Hi, I’m from the US and when I have completed my MA in Eastern Phil I am looking to do a PhD at a European university. I have already researched a number of different programs, (a few in Germany, Czechia, the UK, as well as one in Greece and in Ireland) specifically focusing on programs with a strong focus on late antique philosophy (I have a BA in Philosophy and Classical Studies and I teach Greek and Latin for a living). I’ve reached out as well to a number of professors whose expertise is in what I want to research. I already have a fairly specific proposal for a dissertation topic as well.

It’s not really for a question of whether or not I want to do it, or how to go about researching programs, but for anyone who has done this before, what was your experience? What are some things to look out for, to plan for, etc. I guess what practical advice would you have.
