If I donate blood, how many times would I have to donate to replace blood to replace it entirely?

Post Body

  • I am trying to figure out how to do this, and I cant seem to come up with a way.

  • Suppose you donate 1 unit per donation, and the body holds 10 units of blood. How many times would I have to donate to get the original dilution down to 1%?

  • By my calculations, by the 7th dilution, it should be 47.82969% of the original blood remaining. So im estimating that it should be close to 20 times?

  • My math was simply removing 10% each time from the original 100%. So 100-10%=90%. 90-10%(9.0)= 81% - 10% (8.1%) = 72.9...etc
