Hi All,
So I've been asked to assist on a active directory migration project for local government IT. I'm coming from a non IT background so my role essentially is more soft skills ie relationship development with business stakeholders to ensure the migration goes smoothly. However as I am sure most projects are, it's been delayed so I've been left with no work at this point. I have already offered to assist various colleagues if they need help on other projects, but they don't need help at this point. I'm also not able to work from home (at this point). So,becuase I do generally have an interest in IT, I've been learning things from Youtube.
Problem is, I feel so guilty, like I'm wasting time and bludging, which I hate. I know what I'm doing is ultimately going to help me in the long run, but I can't seem to settle it with my concience.
Has anyone been in similar situation, or as a manager would you be angry if an employee did this?
