Job Seeker: Recovered from Undiagnosed Adhd and depression.
Post Body

I have undiagnosed adhd and depression and after 35, I struggled. Growing up I masked it and touched it out. Then I burned out. Now I'm glad I'm getting the help I needed.

Also 2022 was a hell year. I was married to an abuser and dealt with domestic violence. It escalated to physical violence and I left my husband and we have young children. That was the same time my company laid me off.

I took a temp. job but struggled because I didn't understand my adhd and didn't know how to ask for help or what I needed. I was a mess. My job performance suffered.

I needed money fast so I took a job as a stripper. It's good money and i enjoy it (strangely) but not what I want to do the rest of my life.

I had 2 temp. jobs where my performance was not great. My job skills were also outdated since I was a SAHM returning after 10 years. Luckily I got a grant scholarship to take classes to update and rebuild my confidence.

I have good references from my supervisor from my job in 2022. But not my temp. jobs. Obviously I will be leaving out my stripper job in my resume and application. However I'm on the payroll and getting W2 from the club I work at. Will that come up in a background check?

I'm worried that I won't find a job because of adhd getting in the way and my poor job performance. Would hiring managers be concerned if I do not have more recent references?

I'm anxious about job seeking. Any advice on job hunting? How can i find out if a company will give reasonable accommodations? And how would I talk about it to HR?
