I've made an app for a word game me and my friends play, where the goal is to come up with words belonging to a category, given a certain letter. For example: given "A" and "An animal", one could come up with "Albatross" to get a point.
To get extra points, you can try to come up with a word that also ends with the given letter. Using the previous example: An "Akita" (type of Japanese dog) begins and ends with the letter "A", so the player gets an extra point. A palindrome like "Ara" (type of Macaw) is spelled the same way forwards as backwards, and would give the player two extra points.
When playing this game, I often ask myself if there is an actual linguistical name for a word which begins and ends with the same letter. Me and my friends call it a "Bouncer", which I find very fitting, but it sounds a bit too unofficial.
Does anyone perhaps know if there is a name for this occurance, and if so, what it is called?
Thank you for your time!
