How much do we know about the pre islamic linguistic makeup of north africa?

Pre islamic egypt (and to an extent a very short time of large carthage) get discussed extensively. but theirs a massive time period i feel where i've heard next to nothing about the peoples. was their african latin? what happened to the punic language? did the vandals leave any sort of cultural-linguistic mark in the region?
