I’m a librarian and am currently in the process of compiling a list of different Latin American authors of all genres and languages for booklists / book displays for the library system I’m currently working for.

Are there any authors, poets, books, etc. you’d recommend setting aside the usual suspects? Seria muito bacana agregar livros / escritores brasileiros a nossa coleção de literatura em inglês ou português. Lo mismo con escritores hispanohablantes. La mayoría de los libros en la colección son “los grandes” de la literatura LatAm, pero sería bueno diversificar la colección con escritores uruguayos, paraguayos, bolivianos, centroamericanos, etc. Any books you’re currently reading from LatAm authors / poets? Could be from contemporary to authors, poets, stories from years back.

Any help would be appreciated. I’m looking forward to expand the Spanish-language collection (and start a Portuguese-language collection) in the library system where I’m currently working.
