Gaymers, in games with character creation how do you typically create your character?

Just wondering whether there are things you typically do when creating your player avatar in a game?

I've come to the realization that most of the guys I make are tanned or have brown skin, and usually light coloured eyes, the opposite of me (pale and brown eyes lol). I used to always create very elegant, edgy bishonen characters, but nowadays I find myself making scruffier looking guys, which is what I'm into.

Of course I do try to mix things up every once in a while, even with regards to the character's gender.
