So long story short I’ve been going out to gay bars regularly since I turned 21. When I was 18-20 I traveled Europe and East Asia and found gay nightlife but it was more touristic and so large that everyone was kinda in their own groups visiting or what not.

I notice my city (Detroit area to be specific) has a very small gay scene. Everyone knows one another and everyone is in their groups. I have a few close friends and know everyone and everyone knows me. I also know the majority of people I see are either

• doing coke
• doing K
• doing G
• doing all three

While I understand (and even have seen) gays do drugs i didn’t notice how common drugs were in the gay scene. I truthfully thought it was a small minority.

I guess I’m a bit upset that going out when I was 21 or 22 was just drinking and having a good time. Now I just turned 23 and everyone I see is a literal crackhead and I’m getting mildly depressed seeing this every weekend and have started to distance myself from going out.
