Is it really acceptance if your parents are like “fine be gay but why can’t you act like a man? Why do you dress like that?”
Post Body

So they’ve known I’m gay for like five years now and we don’t really talk about it but today my mom found out I dressed up as Britney for Halloween and she freaked the fuck out bc I wore a skirt. (Like straight men dress like women for halloween all the time it has nothing to do w sexuality) It devolved into this argument of like “why are you jeans so tight? It’s disgusting. (Again nothing to do w sexuality bc straight men wear tight jeans too) Why do you have a pink bag? (It’s fucking fashionable) I’ve seen gay men who are super manly, why can’t you be like them?”

Like I’m trying to be mindful that she is an immigrant and she comes from a place and generation where 1. No Halloween 2. No out gay ppl…but it’s so fucking annoying bc vast majority of situations and vast majority of my wardrobe, most ppl assume I’m straight irl. But like yes, if I go to a party, I might wear a harness and it’s like her reasoning is that “oh time I saw a feminine gay man get assault on the street, you’re gonna get hate crimed!!!!1!1!1!1” and like yes she is a very paranoid woman but I personally feel like deep down she wishes I was straight
