I'm just thinking about how I used to think six figures was like the ultimate marker of being like okay you're an adult now, you've made it. So I worked hard and got that 20% bump by switching jobs...and then its like BAM 10% inflation BAM 40% increase median rent in NYC
Like its not enough to make 100,000 if you wanna live alone because you have to make 40x rent before landlord will consider you and median rent, not even in Manhattan, but in BK is like 3000. 3000x40=120000. I feel like just feel like damn, I'm turning 30 soon and I still have to "be mindful" of bringing strangers from Grindr over at 3am to be respectful to roommate. I feel like by the time I get another raise/promotion, housing crisis will somehow get worse, rent will go up another 40% and inflation will rise even higher. Like what even is the fucking point in saving for retirement?
sorry; I guess this isnt gay specific per say but being gay in NYC is expensive af.
