I, 22M, am personally not big on reclaiming words-- the only time I will personally say the f-slur is if I'm quoting someone/something or if I am using it (sparingly) as part of a joke. However, one bi 20F friend and one lesbian 22F friend use it pretty freely, and say that they're allowed to say it.
On one hand it makes me super uncomfortable, because part of me thinks that, since its history is very gay-male-specific, only gay men should be allowed to say the word. But another part of me--the anti-reclamation part--thinks that either anyone should be allowed to say it or no one should be allowed to say it.
Curious to hear other people's thoughts on this! It seems that my own cognitive dissonance is preventing me from finding a fully thought-out opinion on this, so I'm interested to hear what others think.
