Ok so some background. From 16-18 I was involved with a local glbt group's youth group, and after 18 I was on the board and did their newsletter for a short time. There were things that were odd to me at that age, but at the time it was basically ignored because, well, ignorant teenager.

Once I was on the board several other people from the YG approached me one night and began sharing that the president of the organization, who was also a YG facilitator and sometimes fill-in for the YG director (there were 4 in my 2 years there), had been having a sexual relationship with a YG member. I, again ignorant teenager, believed this to be rumors among kids and spoke with the then YG director about it. Well, less than 24 hours later the president calls an essentially secret meeting with some hand-picked board members and I was informed I was persona non grata with the organization at that point.

Going forward 18 or so years we find out that there are MAJOR questions about the groups financial situation. They lost 501(c)3 status due to improper IRS filings, but informed absolutely nobody and continued soliciting donations as if nothing had happened. The president - still there after nearly 20 years - has always had a thing for soliciting cash and gift card donations. The newsletter is 1 page worth of news, 5 worth of ads, and 4 worth of his horn being tooted for this or that and asking for donations for the YG, or this, or that.

This all came public when a local political figure who had been a board member resigned over questions with the finances and his publishing an open letter to the local media in regards to it. Keep in mind it's pretty unbelievable that this guy - who served as vp and previously treasurer, claimed to have no knowledge of the finances when he resigned, and consensus is more or less that he's as dirty as Mr President, and jumped ship to save face before shit hit the fan.

The group called a press conference, promised an audit, etc. 2 years since, we've heard nothing. Police involved, after looking at basically nothing say there's nothing for them there.

General feeling is that this entire group is dirty top to bottom and inside out - yet the local gay community still chooses to support them despite: 1) Questionable finances (embezzlement) 2) Allegations from multiple former YG members regarding Mr President (only 2 publicly, more have spoken to us privately) 3) Loss of non-profit status yet continued to solicit donations without any disclosure, And still has PayPal links on their website 4) EVERYONE in the community who we've spoken to (gay community) says they know what Mr President is but "they just do so much"

Any advice about how to take this man and this group down? Reports to the IRS have done nothing. The local political establishment, due to the resignees position, is protecting him (Mr President) in every way possible. The local media have basically said they're no longer going to cover the story. When a protest was held recently due to Mr President's new position (job) the media covered it as though those protesting him were the bad side despite the counter protestors - from the group - were the ones instigating trouble and doing personal attacks against those protesting.

At this point it's just incredibly frustrating to know this man is robbing from the community, abusing youth, abusing his position, abused his position in his former job, abused youth AT his former job, and fell right back into another NGO job despite all of the controversy surrounding him.
