I'll try and be as concise as I can and as an fyi I've not had any sexual interaction with this person our relationship is platonic. I have a friend whom I've been friends with since high school so about 12 years now and we as of 2 years ago begun to hang out more often. It started with him losing his car due to financial issues and me giving him rides to work, no paying for gas or anything its what friends do. This went on for about a year until he saved up to get a new car (hooray). Since then we've hung out quite a few times and I've even gotten to know his daughter she's quite the sweet pea! We play a couple of online shooters together and he asks for drawing advise we share our work and I even got him into a few fiction book series that I really like.

About a month ago I needed to make a trip to visit some friends and my car was having some maintenance done. So he offered to give me a ride there on Friday and even pick me up that Sunday. It was awesome because it was about an hour 30 away. The ride down was just us simply shooting the shit random conversations singing to the radio and random youtube videos. Upon arriving he got a phone call and put it on speaker phone, I hung around till after the call as we were discussing pickup times on Sunday. The guy on the other line proceeded to ask him a number of questions and ended the discussion after a long pause: "Hey.. you're gay right?" This caught me by surprise and I had a bit of a giggle at it he took the call off speaker phone said no a few times and then hung up.

I think we have a lot of things we relate on and I've told him before that I think he's attractive to which he had a very positive response, and not at all dismissive. As we've spent time together I've wanted to ask him about his sexual identity so I'm curious what my fellow redditgays will suggest. If you have any additional questions please comment.
