How do I appear more approachable?

I'm a big, scary dude; I have a beard, long hair, very broad shoulders, and an almost constant scowl (I have sensitive eyes so I have to squint a lot and it looks like I'm scowling behind my glasses). I'm basically one leather jacket away from being a biker. Combine that with the fact that I do not act or look "gay" and I'm never approached by anyone, much less guys.
Any help on seeming more approachable? Or on how to approach guys/figure out who is approachable?
I appreciate any help you care to give!
