Is matching then not responding to messages on Tinder a thing?

I recently downloaded Tinder again after years of not using it. Swiped right on some profiles, got some matches. I send some version of “hey, how’s it going” to most or all of my matches. Seems like no one responds though? In the course of a week the one response I got was from a guy just looking to sell weed or something.

I get not responding on other apps like Grindr or Scruff or Sniffies, but in this case I would assume the fact that they swiped right means they’re at least interested in chatting on the app.
