My boyfriend and I are closed. He wants to make friends only “online” and meet up with them. Is that ok?

My boyfriend and I are entirely closed. Have been for about 2 years.
He’s been wanting to meet up with friends from online (previously met through Grindr). This includes going to see movies etc but he has asked me to trust that it’s purely friendship and he wouldn’t let anything happen that would make it inappropriate.
Is that ok? What’s your view?
