So back in January of 2022. I met a user on here actually. We hit it off and only became better friends over the course of a month or two where we ended up talking every day. About life or anything. We were good friends. I knew his first name but that's it, not his last name or where he lived or what he looked like. He always would refuse to divulge that information.
He was always extremely kind to me and very caring. He never asked for any sketchy details about me or wanted that. Just to talk and we'd hangout and watch shows and movies weekly together on the chat app. He knew a lot about my life over the course of 2 and a half years of talking every day.
As of last week though, I got finally fed up with him refusing to show me his face or any other information about him so I told him that I wanted to end the friendship because we wanted different things out of it. Given that he never treated me poorly or said a mean thing to me, was that still the right decision?
I don't want a pen pal that I never see what he looks like, I'm not in middle school anymore.
(We did have a week falling out last year because I caught him cat fishing me with pics he said were of his of his body that he said were his, and when I caught him he apologized and said he felt pressured to do it because I was so adamant about seeing what he looked like.)
TLDR: very nice caring online friend that refuses to show his face to me, or let me know where he lives (only know the state) am I wrong to end the almost three year friendship because I can't keep being friends with a faceless person that won't ever show me?
And please keep the comments nice, I don't want to feel bad about any of this. Just truth mature responses, friends.
