How do you address straight men who feel comfortable around gay men but are transphobic?
Post Body

I have this straight friend. Someone who I work with and have built a strong friendship over the years & someone I have not known to be transphobic or a bigot in anyway. Kind of revealed himself to be such.

There is this girl, who delivers food throughout our work campus and one day he mentions her and describes her as trans. I did not know her to be a trans woman and honestly, I do not care if she is or not. However, I found it kind of weird for him to bring that up and he brought it up in a spiteful way. I just pretended to act surprised. I wanted to say “how did you know?” But I just didn’t. He went on to share his views about transgender people and well, he is quite the bigot.

I made the conversation slowly fizzle out until we were no longer talking and just worked in silence. Near the end of our shift we saw her and he says “there goes that little trans slut” and I was taken aback. But I asked “how do you know she’s a slut?” He goes, “she slept with 5 dudes in our campus”

Honestly, after today I realized that he is transphobe, a bigot and maybe an incel? Idk. I think I’m going to put the breaks on our friendship. People are entitled to their own opinions and I respect varying views but he was downright hateful and mean and I feel like there is no excuse for all that.
