What am I missing out on for not having Snap or Telegram?

I’ve had really nice conversations on Reddit with all sorts of nice/cute/fun gay boys. I swear 95% of them quickly ask me for Snap or Telegram contact info. I’m a millennial [42] and have never used those apps before. Reddit is really the only social app I use regularly. So what’s going on here where guys find me on Reddit but immediately ask me to switch apps? Am I just behind the times?
