On Saturday I barebacked without PrEP. The guy insisted he was on PrEP. Fine, but still annoyed at myself. Another guy came on my dick and then I fucked the first guy. I have no idea what got into my head and it's the most reckless I've ever been, just a dumb moment.
36 hours later I decided to start Truvada PrEP (2-1-1) incase any more spontaneous fucking happened. Hooked up with the first guy and it turns out the first guy was undetectable which made me feel a lot better cos clearly he is taking care of his health, but also uncertain cos I don't know if guys remain undetectable all the time or what.
So I went to the STI clinic to talk to a nurse or doctor there to get answers. Explained my situation, but the doctor was utterly useless. Looked at me blankly, didn't answer anything and said to come back in 2 weeks.
All I wanted to know was:
- What is my potential risk?
- How does U=U work exactly?
- What is the risk if a random guy cums on your dick?
- Should I keep taking Truvada as if it were PEP for 28 days? Usually there's a third drug involved, should I add that in? She didn't even discuss it...
- Will Truvada cause false negatives if I did get infected?
- DoxyPEP - I didn't even bother to ask cos it was going nowhere.
Anyway, this has consistently been my experience with STI clinics. Even the ones that claim to be judgement free... seem to judge. I rely on google, social media and friends to tell me how HIV and HIV medications work :/
