How common are anal fissures?

I recently tried my first 9” and I believe that’s what caused my anal fissure. The monster member took his time and we went slow with plenty of lube but this fissure is so damn painful. I’ve also attempting self fisting and never had any issues. So my question is, how common are anal fissures and how do you prevent them?
