Sorry, long meandering post...
I'm thinking of renting a long-term AirBnb. I haven't checked their site in over a year, but it seems long-term rentals are possible, but not common?
Sure, I assume most rentals are for a night, maybe a week but usually no longer than a month?
Or have some here actually "moved into" an Airbnb long-term and been able to receive mail and maybe even register a car?
Anyway, how would I receive mail? The owner would be foolish to allow anyone to receive mail because at that point, it's almost as if the renter has a lease. And surely, the owner wouldn't want the implications of that, especially if the owner needs the space back ASAP.
No, I can't just get a PO Box at the post office or the UPS Store because in order to do that, one needs that proof of residence. And with an Airbnb, I couldn't expect the owner to grant me "resident" status even if just for my mail.
Sure, I can simply open a PO Box at the USPS or UPS Store just before moving into an Airbnb, as I'll officially have an existing residential address and just pick up my mail there while at the Airbnb long-term.
But, if one needs to renew a driver's license while at an Airbnb, or needs to apply for car insurance and registration, or a credit card, one can't use a PO Box.
Has anybody here navigated a long-term AirBnb situation of, let's say, 6-12 months? Or is a rental that long very unlikely to even be offered, perhaps for many reasons?
Thanks.
