Context: 24 year old gay man here that works at an airport selling a TSA precut service and 90% of my coworkers are Muslims.
I am more or less someone who believes in god but I’m not really religious. I also have respect for religious people, even if we don’t exactly see eye to eye (unless they want LGBT people to be harmed in anyway).
There is a group of girls who I work with that are a few years younger than me who all chat with me from time to time. They all wear hijabs (which doesn’t bother me at all). They are all accepting but in a “I don’t understand it but I like you and think you should have the same rights” kinda way.
I was talking about guys to one of them (there is three of them and I call them the powderpuff girls - she’s buttercup) and when I told her that the guy I’m taking to is in the closet she responded and said:
“I think since you’re open with yourself you should date a guy with the same morals as you and not someone who doesn’t accept themselves and respect you to be completely in their life”
I love this and will always think about this person. I know she’s going for neuroscience and I hope she makes a lot of money because she way ahead of herself!
