Why do benzodiazepines (specifically Xanax) help my migraines and pain?

I get painful migraines quite often. I take a med called Sumatriptan which is a migraine abortive med and it usually works quite well but I only get so many a month. I don’t take Xanax that often but if I do when I have a migraine it almost always makes the pain go away.
When I'm taking Xanax it's also only 0.25mg - 0.5mg so nothing crazy. So how come benzos help my pain? Is this just a me thing or do other people find it helps pain as well? I couldn't find anything on google lol.
