Moving and electric contracts

Post Body

I'm sure others have dealt with apartments moving into homes and looking into a bit of advice.

I'm going to be on the hook for 2 months rent lease break. Figure if I'm going to be here for 2 months I'd take it easy on moving into the new place. I know I can break an electric contract when I move, but Ideally i'd have power in both places at the same time. Can I start a new one and maybe a month or so later provide the new address to the old contract to break it?

Other moving questions if anyone can answer: Recommendations on movers? I just need them to move the heavy things like couches, beds etc.

When do I need to apply for the homestead exemption?
