I have impacted lower wisdom teeth. I had a mouth xray from my university's dental school when I was 20 that showed them and there were no visible upper wisdom teeth. I was due to have them removed by a student but it never happened. They haven't caused me much issue, just some mild pericoronitis about twice a year. However, the last few years I've had the same thing happen at the top and can feel what feels like the tip of a tooth. I haven't had an oral exam in years and I'm now 35.
What I'm wondering is if it's even possible that my upper wisdom teeth formed inside my gums _after_ those xrays were taken at age 20? Like there was a tooth bud that hadn't turned into a tooth? Is that possible? Because the xray back then it looked like there was nothing there.
I'm planning to get a check-up soon (think I might have bruxism) and will see if they can look at whether I have any upper wisdom teeth and need extraction.
