In recent months I've had a lot of anxiety about my teeth, starting with me thinking I had developed crossbite after removing my braces 2 years ago. I visited my dentist and he said that my bite was still aligned, and I just had my retainer changed from a plastic one to a hawley retainer.
However, this was only the beginning of my worries, which has caused me to visit my dentist quite frequently recently (to the point it's embarrassing calling in).
Last month I had fillings done on 7 teeth, which hit me hard. My dentist told me to observe my other dental caries and he'll examine if they need filling in the next 6 months. Everytime I look at my teeth I notice the other ones and they make me feel disgusted with myself, but it's at least better now.
Since then I've been constantly anxious about my teeth in every waking moment, noticing every little detail. Which has led me to have a few questions, some that are admittedly a little stupid.
How worn is my tooth enamel? I have sensitivity to cold drinks, but not necessarily pain. So I'm wondering if I just have sensitive teeth or if my enamel is worn.
(Last slide with two red circles) I have these holes/dips in my teeth, and I've wondered if that's an issue as well. Other posts on this sub called it "cupping" and something not to worry about.
Does it look like I would any kind of crowns or veneers in the future? I'm not on any kind of dental insurance and don't have the kind of money to afford that.
I've been told to not rinse my mouth after brushing my teeth and to just spit out. My dentist says that the flouride from toothpaste will damage my retainer. If I don't rinse and just put my retainer in afterward, will that damage the retainer through contact?
Sorry for the numerous questions. My "teeth anxieties" have been really affecting my mental health in the past few months, but my dentists seem to act like there's nothing to worry about.
