Is it normal to have pain suddenly start a few days after a root canal?

Post Body

Hi! I was having shooting pain from my back left molar and a weird vibrating feeling (sometimes fullness) in my left ear. I went to the dentist and she told me I needed a root canal, to my understanding the nerve didn’t appear infected on the X-ray (pictured), but needed to be removed because it was dying. She medicated the tooth to buy me time until the root canal, and I felt fine for about 2 days and then the pain worsened, but not pain on my tooth, pain was down my left jaw and in my left ear. (Ear infection has been ruled out by my primary doctor). I had the root canal done 4 days ago, and was swollen and in pain afterwards but took dexmethasone (prescribed anti inflammatory steroid) and then ALL of my pain was gone within 12 hours. I didn’t need any more ibuprofen or Tylenol for 3 days.

Today, my jaw pain and ear pain/fullness are back. Is this normal? Could something else be going on?

Also, I had a coronectomy done 2 years ago, it seems like the root of the tooth moved forward. Does it look like it could be causing any of these issues?
