So, last Thursday, I had my wisdom tooth extraction, and the dentist prescribed an antibiotic, which is clindamycin 300mg. During my first two doses of this medicine, I was just fine, but yesterday, after I ate rice and then took the antibiotic, I suddenly got heartburn. It was my first time experiencing heartburn, and I don’t have a history of GERD. At first, I thought maybe it was because I was on a low-carb diet, and eating rice triggered the heartburn. However, I realized that I had eaten plenty of rice last Tuesday without experiencing heartburn. Also, before undergoing the wisdom tooth extraction, I was taking amoxicillin because my gums around the wisdom tooth were swollen, so my dentist instructed me to take the antibiotic. Taking amoxicillin didn't give me heartburn, so I suspect that the clindamycin caused the heartburn.
Should I take amoxicillin instead of clindamycin? Do they both have the same effect? or It isn’t necessary to take antibiotic unless i had an infection? I’m actually using betadine gargle.
