38/M with severe asthma. Donāt drink or smoke. Had oral surgery and middle of 3 tore into sinus. oral surgeon put in a membrane and sewed it up. Soon I noticed a squelching sound which at 1 week follow up I was assured it was nothing and healing up fast and next week would remove stitches. Next week stitches were removed and I was told I was healing up very fast and would be healed completely in a week or 2, despite continued squelching and occasional suction feeling at site when I swallowed. By next week it was a small opening, and I was given a new appointment and by then it was a hole. he saw me and said I needed a new appointment to remove 2 teeth off a space to the side and then he would close it. By the appointment the next week it had opened completely and I felt water go down the back of my throat from the top as well as a water in the nose feeling. I said I wanted the opening closed and he said he couldnāt unless he removed those 2 teeth so I let him, 3 days ago. He put in a new membrane and sewed it up. He told me not to lift over 5 lbs or do any physical activity so I havenāt yet I noticed some troubling signs already. when I swallow I often have that squelching/suction like last time. Also when I breathe deep enough like to take an inhaler it feels like air somewhat flows between sinus and mouth. Also since day 1 Iāve had some occasional throbbing at the same place it opened. Should I be worried? Also when I asked why it reopened despite doing everything I was instructed and I was told āit just happens. Sometimes the membrane just breaks down.ā Is this true? How many more times am I going to have to do this? Does it ever get completely well and not recur?
