A little excited, but I had this customer -- real nice, older man who was in the market to get his wife a new vehicle. She didn't want too much, just some heated, power seats on a CX-30 with a blue exterior. Cool. We had precisely one blue preferred CX-30, although it was a 2021. She goes for a test drive, likes it, I get their credit app and set up an appointment to see them the next day.
He pops in the next day around two as promised, and we present a pencil. He doesn't want to pay any down, but doesn't mind a high payment. Okay, cool. Different, but cool. Agrees to first pencil under the assumption that he'll pay nothing down and get the payment we talked about. Car hits detail, guy goes to finance, and I'm just like, "sweeeet."
I head over to my GSM and he hits me with: "I smell a two-car deal. Let's get it done."
So, I'm fairly new. Started on the sales side back in early August, and am still trying to get used to selling at all. But two cars? From the same person? Pfft. This guy's crazy.
CX-30 comes back from detail, wife shows up with her 2018 Mazda3, and next thing I know, GSM, UCM, and FM are all gathered around talking to this couple. They tell me to show her a hatchback Mazda3. All righty then.
I show her the base model so she can get a feel for it, but husband wants it to have everything the other car has. Preferred it is. Must have dark interior. Cool. I'll make it blue exterior to match.
She drives it, revs down the road like a speed demon (lol), and essentially says she likes it. FM comes out with a pencil, they agree, and now I'm suddenly getting the Mazda3 prepped in detail. I feel like I was just whisked away through a gale of wind that went way over my head, but hey. Got a good review out of it, guy said he wanted to make sure I got my commission, and FM said we did very well in the back. Not sure how good "very well" is, but I'll take it.
Still don't know what happened, but the people were nice. :)
Edit: Corrected "didn't" to "did". Thanks for pointing that out!
