I had the worst experience of my life buying a truck. Was the dealer trying something sleezy, or something crazy that I was not aware of?

I live in East Tennessee, and I am on the hunt for a Ram. Most dealerships couldn't finance me a Ram that I either would agree to or could do. (quite a bit wanted 50% down, and one dealership wanted me to get in a Chevy Equinox to show payment history for 6 months. I already have a Challenger that I've been financing for 8 months with 0 missed payments, so wtf was that about?) Anywho, I finally found a dealership CDJR dealer that found a truck I could get in that I actually liked. But this begins a month-long of horror, stress, and flat-out craziness.

From the moment I walked in I knew I should have left. I told the sales guy I was looking for something specific, and a particular price range. I did not want to do any had credit checks just yet as I don't want to have a crap ton on my record. He told me lets do a soft check to see if its even worth sending it to the bank. I agreed to that. I gave him my information, filled out the app and waited. He walked up to me and said "Congragulations I got you approved for this 2500." Im like, what? How since you didn't do any hard checks? then Credit Karma was going off like mad hll. 7 hard hits. ffs. Whatever. Then he said you need this down. But I had told him I only had this much down. Well crap. Okay lets look at this truck. Long story short he kept getting me approved for trucks that were outside of my price range that I had the funds to put down on and kept running hard credit checks. I was about to walk away as I had enough when they found ne that fit my budget. I agreed, but needed a co-signer all of a sudden. Okay fine got my co-signer.

The truck was in the shop for work that they had to do so I couldn't test drive it but they told me if I signed and put my payment down, if I did not like the truck for any reason I could return it no problem. Alright so I agreed to it.

The next day I come to pickup the Ram, and do a check on it. E-Brake light would not go off, so I had them look at it. There was more issues that the shop missed, and the shop forgot to do.
They had the truck for 8 days to fix what they should have fixed to begin with.
When I pointed out the issues (which was the Parking Brake sticking, and other issues related to the rear brakes that should have been done when they replaced the axle) the sales manger rudely told me "This is a used truck I can only do so much, you have to realize you're not buying brand new." He was extremely rude to me. The Service manager saw it and told me that was uncalled for, and he didn't care what the sales manager said or would or wouldn't do, he would make sure that truck is fixed before I took it.

anyways, a week later I finally drove the truck off the lot for the first t time, and mechanically it was perfect.

A week after I already have taken possession of the truck, I get a call from the sales manager. Hey, we need some paperwork from your co-signer. Proof of Residency, income, bank statements all that. I asked him why didn't he get that before I took the truck off the lot? His response was that the finance guy should have and it was my job to provide them at that time. I then told him, no I was never asked for this information, and in fact I was never asked for it for my records? I never provided any of that myself. I then told him that hey Im a truck driver, and currently out of state and I do not have access to these documents, and my co-signer had taken this time to go on a vacation themselves. He then started to be very rude about it. "No one takes vacations that long" "They can do it with their smartphone" and other judgemental things. They failed to understand that me, living on the road driving for 14 hours a day can't just whip open my phone and get this stuff while I'm driving, then he said "Ive worked with truckers before you get time off at the end of your day" like dude, I'm fucking tired I need to rest and eat and prepare for the next day. Plus my co-signer is an elderly woman who can't operate her microwave let alone get bank statements and pdf's and all that shit. He then threatened to repo the truck in many rude ways if I do not comply within his timeframe. I had informed him I would be back in town in a week. That was not soon enough. I got my co-signer on the phone and he continued to threaten to repo the truck. We finally got him to agree to wait until I arrived in town. Meenwhile every day the dealership and the bank kept calling me asking for these documents.

I finally get home, I get all the documents they asked for and I sent them to the bank.

Next day I call the Manger or owner or whoever the big boss dude is that kept threatening to repo the truck and asked him the status. He replied that he's working on it. Okay fine.

2 days go by and I hear nothing

Next day I call, Im ignored

Next day I email and call, nothing

Next day I had my co-signer call, and he told her that he had no knowledge of anything that needed to be done.

few days later the bank calls, turns out the dealership put the co-signers address as my address and the documents do not match her drivers license. She lives in a different state. The contract would need to be remade, okay fine that's on them.
I call the big boss dude, he answers and I inform him what the bank told me. He said he would get his team on it.

Next day, I'm ignored

Next day I call, and email, ignored.

Next day my co-signer calls, tells her some random crap I can't even remember but ehs on it I guess.

A week goes by and I hear nothing. I cal the bank, they are still waiting.

Yesterday I get a call from a different dude at the dealership, saying "Hey can you come in tomorrow to sign the new contract?" which I replied "Sorry I can't I'm currently in Ohio in the middle of my run." To which he then began to threaten to repo the truck yet again. Asked me when I could come in, I tell him Im on weeday shift for at least 3 weeks (I'm on a rotating schedule) and I won't have a weekday off for awhile, and they are not approving PTO requests right now due to being very busy and already have more drivers scheduled off in advance due to the holiday. Well again he said if I can't do it by saturda then he's repoing the truck.
They would not work with my schedule at all, I had to do everything on their terms no budging.

So I said screw it, Im giving the truck back. Called dispatch, told them I need to get home asap. They took me off the run and deadheaded me back to TN from Indiana. I lost some good money. I called said I would be in today by 630. Okay no problem.

I arrive at 630 with the truck with the expectations that either A.) I sign the new contract, or B.) I give the truck back. I was already decided I'm giving the truck back as Im tired of the threats, the rude treatment, and the disrespect they had towards me.

The sales guy apologized threw his teeth and said is there anything that we can do to save this deal? I told him no, there's nothing you can do to make this right. He went to his manager and tried. The manager asked me a few questions which I answered and he made a phone call. I had no idea what they were doing. Credit Karma goes off, another hard credit on my report. WTF! Then he said the bank would not approve the load because me and my co-signer could not have different addresses (which the bank told me they could)

But I never asked to have my credit ran AGAIN! An don top of that, if all I had to do was re-sign the new contract, WHY DID THEY NEED TO CHECK MY CREDIT YET AGAIN!? And why did they need to have the bank re-approve me with the addresses changed?

THen they said I would not get my down payment bank today. TH office is closed. I told them I informed them ahead of time when I would arrive, and why they didn't have the check ready. Oh, the check can't be made until the truck is on property. Well why tf didn't you tell me that I would have came tomorrow, I would have been able to finish my load and hauled freight back home and got paid for it!!!!!!! So I told them Im taking the truck until I get my money, and they refused. Would not let me take the truck again and would not pay me. Im literally screaming at them after all that they have done. Not only did I lose wadges for today, and will likely loose wadges tomorrow but I don't have my down payment back, I don't have a truck, and my credit is in absolute shit from all the damn hard inquiries that dealership did on me. They claim they are going to overnight the check to me so Im hopeful, but at this point I do not trust them. They have not once honored what they said and I just can't trust them. I have no idea what to do.

Is this normal practice? Were they intentionally screwing with me to get the truck back? wtf actually happened!

TLDR: The Dealership failed to repair the truck before they sold it to me, the dealership failed to get the proper documents from me, the dealership wrote the contract wrong and threatened to repo the truck from me multiple times if I did not comply with their timeframe and schedule knowing I am a Truck Driver and am out of state 90% of the time. They were extremely rude to me the entire time, placed the blame on me on all of it, and still has not given me my down payment back.
